My beloved 2010 GTI was totaled last week so it looks like I’m in the market again. I am looking at leftover 2017 Golf Sportwagens with 4motion AWD. Dealers in the C seem to be marking these down about $6000. Any tips on how to get a better deal or should I snap this up? Thanks y’all.

She’s a beauty. Love the colour.
$6k off is good, but you could shop around and see what others are charging then see if you could haggle anything off.

No advice in haggling, but why not another GTi? I do like the sport wagon, but I wish they made the GTI-wagon with the 2.0 and sport suspension. Anyway, good luck.

$6k off of what? Off the price that was marked up $12k already?
Get the dealer invoice price and use that as data point in your decision making, would be my advice.*

As OC torque dork said, some VW dealers mark their products up a LOT. Not all, but this rings true in my area. WHen the Mk7 GTIs came out I went to look at leftover Mk6 GTIs. The dealer near me had theirs for “just” 3k over MSRP. And Mk7 GTIs were over 5k over MSRP.
Needless to say, I didn’t buy a GTI.

Fair enough. I assumed 6k off meant MSRP, but if they are pulling shenanigans like markups that high, then that 6k off isn’t all that good a deal.

You want the 4motion regular Golf, right? (Not Alltrack). I’d say low $20s is a good price based on what I’m seeing on the east coast.
That being said, I have a regular Golf and I wouldn’t want a 4motion because I’m not a fan of the DSG. YMMV.
